Al salamu alaykum dear Friends,
Greetings of Peace! As we wind down the last remaining days of Ramadan, I pray that you are drawing ever closer to the Beloved and enjoying the sweet fragrances of the nights! It is hard to
believe the end of Ramadan is upon us and we will have to say goodbye to this blessed month so soon. May next Ramadan find us in a better state insha'Allah!
In this final week of Ramadan, as we are feeling the blessed effects of less sleep, more prayer, and the month of fasting, we nevertheless have been bolstered by the excitement of the launch of
our new press, Usuli Press, and our first new book, The Prophet's Pulpit: Commentaries on the State of Islam by Khaled Abou El Fadl (Edited by Josef Linnhoff)! Have you purchased your copy
yet?
I spoke about the launch and the book and our history with book publishing at the beginning of last week's halaqa. You can find it here:
The Launch of USULI PRESS and The Prophet's Pulpit by Khaled Abou El Fadl
23 April 2022
As I argued in my talk, I believe it is time for an Intellectual Revolution! It is time for us to believe and prove that Muslims are not at the bottom of the barrel and actually have something to offer humanity - everything that we have been learning about the Qur'an and what applied Islamic ethics looks like - effectively, what is in The Prophet's Pulpit. I am so proud of what we were able to create - between a Muslim press that can produce high quality publications to rival those of professional presses, and a book that is beautiful inside and out. This is how we can begin to fight back against the ravages of Islamophobia - with knowledge, substance and beauty. Please help me spread the word, distribute the book widely, and spark the much needed and long overdue Intellectual Revolution! It is time we own our own narrative and demonstrate the beauty, relevance and enlightenment of God's message to humanity through the Qur'an.
In Peace and Hope,
